Connectome Analysis Unit, Center for Brain Science (Unit Leader: Alexander Woodward)
The Connectome Analysis Unit is engaged in the Brain Mapping by Integrated Neurotechnologies for Disease Studies project (Brain/MINDS, https://brainminds.jp/en/) for establishing large-scale connectomics of the common marmoset brain. The Unit is responsible for developing and maintaining an internal database for data sharing and an open-access connectomics database accessible via a data portal website. The Unit develops digital brain atlasing tools and upgrades the current Brain/MINDS marmoset brain atlas, which is used for data integration and connectomics calculations. Connectomics techniques are developed to extract characteristics of marmoset brain circuits from Brain/MINDS experimental data.

Research Scientist (discretionary labor system): 1 position:
The Research Scientists will conduct research in alignment with the goals of the Unit in the following areas:
･Analysis of connectome data by using techniques such as network theory, brain simulation and artificial intelligence to extract characteristics of marmoset brain circuits.
･Development of neuroinformatics tools to explore, analyze and visualize Brain/MINDS data (especially for the web).
･Development of data pre-processing systems so that data from the database can be used in popular neuroscience tools.
･Development of techniques and tools for digital brain atlasing using methods from computer vision and artificial intelligence.
The Unit is seeking self-motivated researchers who want to develop their careers and publish their research results in high-quality journals. This is a good opportunity for working with a diversity of neuroimaging data such as MRI (structural, diffusion, and resting-state functional MRI, etc.), fluorescence microscopy and histology, calcium imaging, ECoG, and ISH data among others.
