Associate or Assistant Professor Position
Bioorganic Chemistry Laboratory, Organic and Biological Chemistry Group,
Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Kyushu University
1. Number of Position Opening:
One female associate professor (tenured) or one female assistant professor (tenured)

Field of Expertise:
Natural Product Chemistry, Synthetic Organic Chemistry, and Chemical Biology
Research Topics:
Structure determination and total synthesis of natural products possessing potent biological activities and complex molecular structures. Elucidation of their target molecule and mode of action, and chemical biology based on design and synthesis of bioactive molecules. The final candidate is supposed to join the “Bioorganic Chemistry Laboratory" to which professor Tohru Oishi belongs. The new associate or assistant professor joined this group is encouraged to promote her own independent research projects in the above-mentioned topics but is also supposed to cooperate with professor Oishi in research.

4. Educational and Other Duties
The new associate professor hired with this position is requested to give lectures and demonstrations on some of the following courses: Organic Chemistry for graduate and undergraduate students, Basic Experimental Procedure and Laboratory Chemistry Experiments in Organic Chemistry for the undergraduate students, etc.
The new assistant professor hired with this position is requested to give lectures and demonstrations on some of the following courses: Basic Experimental Procedure and Laboratory Chemistry Experiments in Organic Chemistry for the undergraduate students, etc.
It must be also noted that all professors including those in associate and assistant professor positions must be in charge of part of the administrative tasks to manage and operate this department.
5. Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D degree.
6. Date of Appointment:
At the earliest opportunity before May 15, 2020.
7. Employment Duration:
Full-time. The term of contract is up to the mandatory retirement age of Kyushu University.
