The candidate will be screened and employed based on the procedure "Leading Initiative for Excellent Young Reseachers (LEADER)" by MEXT. (http://www.mext.go.jp/a_menu/jinzai/takuetsu/index.htm)
One tenure tracking researcher having excellent research activity in bioinformatics for large-scale data analysis such as genome, proteome and also microbiome, and seeking application to those artificial intelligence.

At Niigata University Institute for Research Promotion Center for Transdisciplinary Research, we are recruiting an assistant professor in bioinformatics field, which can research and analyze large-scale data handled in the field of biomedical science, which is essential for promoting Health life expectancy future medical science research. By arranging assistant professors with excellent research capabilities in this field and carrying out joint projects with various research groups inside and outside the university, we realize a new informatics approach for fusing complex omics data and medical information and expect to accelerate the overall activity of medical research.
This open call for participants is those selected as outstanding researcher candidates by 2019 Leading Initiative for Excellent Young Researchers of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. (1) Research and education collaboration and cooperation under the guidance of the faculty members in health life expectancy future medical science field(Bioinformatics field).
(2) Active working in the necessary research field, and spread outstanding research results in Japan, as well as overseas.
(3) Raising external funds such as scientific research grants.

In addition, work effort of 80% is guaranteed for research during the tenure-track period, and in principle, work related to management and administration of the university is exempted. However, you may be appointed to be in charge of undergraduate / postgraduate courses lectures of related research field.

The researcher will be affiliated to Niigata University Institute for Research Promotion Center for Transdisciplinary Research. However, research activities will be carried out in relevant department (Institute of Medicine and Dentistry (School of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine・Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences(Medicine))).

At the end of the tenure track period, if the applicant shows excellent results, we will prepare a tenure post at Institute of Medicine and Dentistry. The applicant will be adopted as full-time faculty members (5 year terms and possible reappointment).

※ From April 1, 2022, as shown in the following Additional information “Tenure Position Appointment", the researcher will switch his position to teacher position of Niigata University Institute of Medicine and Dentistry.

Benefits

(1) Monthly salary system (according to Niigata University staff salary regulations)
(2) Working hours: Discretionary labor system. Seven hours 45 minutes in a day of de facto working hours system.
(3) Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, New Year's holidays December 29 - January 3, etc.

(1) Application deadline
The Leading Initiative for Excellent Young Researchers: 17:00, April 24, 2019.
Within our university: 17:00 (Japan standard time = GMT+9), August 8, 2019.
(2) Selection method: Primary selection is document examination. Secondary selection is interview examination (containing presentation). We plan to conduct the examination in late August at our university.
(3) Selection result: Will be informed to the applicant, as soon as after the decision.
(4) Time of arrival: November 1, 2019 (planned).

[Tenure Position Appointment]
At the end of the tenure track period, if the applicant shows excellent results, we will prepare a tenure post at Institute of Medicine and Dentistry. The applicant will be adopted as full-time faculty members (5 year terms and possible reappointment).
The tenure track period is the period during which you are Institute for Research Promotion Center for Transdisciplinary Research member, and the tenure examination will be conducted in the final year 2021.
Final qualification will be done based on total evaluation of “research activity records", “international activity records", “management ability", “educational activity records" and “contribution to the department/university" during the tenure-track period.
