[Laboratory]
Laboratory for Developmental Dynamics
RIKEN Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research
(Team Leader: Shuichi Onami)

[Research Field]
The Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research (BDR) views the functions of molecules, cells, and organs that support all life stages of organisms as a dynamic system, and aims to elucidate developmental, growth and aging phenomena as well as apply their findings to develop regenerative medicine and diagnostics, thereby contributing to the extension of healthy life expectancies.

The Laboratory for Developmental Dynamics is recruiting a research employee to carry out a new theme. The research overview of the laboratory is shown below.

Toward predictive understanding of the development of multicellular organisms, this laboratory is developing mathematical models of developmental systems and technologies for quantitative developmental biology, by combining molecular cell biology, biophysics, genome sciences, computational sciences, information sciences, mathematical sciences, etc. We use simple model systems, such as C. elegans for developing basic models and technologies, and apply those to more complex systems such as mammalian embryos and organoids.

[Job title and Job description]
Positions available:
Research Scientist 1 person

Job Description:
The Research Scientist is expected to develop technologies to recognize cellular differentiation states by integrating 4D microscopy live imaging and computational image recognition. The scientist is also expected to develop data-driven modeling technologies to deduce programs of cell differentiation by integrating the above-mentioned cellular differentiation recognition technologies and 4D microscope live imaging big data. Furthermore, the scientist is expected to deduce genetic programs that control cell differentiations during animal and organoids development by using developed technologies.
The research project will be carried out as a part of BDR Center Project “DECODE project (only available in Japanese)".
