Candidates should:
(1)Be strongly motivated to become a global leader in an area of statistical mathematics;
(2)Intend to actively contribute to the mission of the Institute as an inter-university research institute, which includes organizing joint research projects and promoting collaborative activities such as the NOE (Network Of Excellence) activity with other organizations;
(3)Be able to take initiative in the professional development programs the Institute promotes at the School of Statistical Thinking and in other projects;
(4)Be motivated to proactively promote cooperative research with industries and large-scale research projects utilizing external funds.

Assigned to one of the three fundamental research departments (of statistical modeling, statistical data science, or statistical inference and mathematics)

Field of research:
Statistical mathematics (theory, methods, and application of statistical science/mathematical science)

Successful applicants will be engaged in:
(1)Promotion of research in a fundamental research department;
(2)Promotion of joint research collaboration, the NOE activity, and the professional development programs at the School of Statistical Thinking;
(3)Participation in the educational activities at the Department of Statistical Science of the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI) or other universities in collaboration.

Salary will be determined on the basis of “annual salary scheme" or “monthly salary scheme" of ROIS (Research Organization of Information and Systems) and will reflect the candidate's seniority. In general the annual salary scheme will be applied, but the monthly salary scheme will be applied until a new annual salary scheme under consideration is introduced. If employed by a national university corporation or an inter-university research institute corporation etc. in Japan until the day before the adoption date, the current annual salary scheme or monthly salary scheme will continue to apply, but in the future the new annual salary scheme may be applied.

working hour:9:00-17:30
holiday: Saturday, Sunday, Holiday
