[Recruitment background]
The person to be hired will become a full-time faculty member of the Graduate School of Economics and the School of International and Public Policy; but his/her main responsibility is to teach microeconomics, monetary economics, and finance, and supervise Master students' thesis work making use of his/her knowledge of economics and econometrics at the Asian Public Policy Program (APPP) of the School of International and Public Policy (IPP). Almost all the students at APPP are young professionals from government agencies and central banks of Asian countries, so the language being used is English. APPP's objective is to help these young professionals become able to formulate and implement economic policies firmly based on economics. Therefore, in selecting the person to be hired, we pay attention not only to his/her academic credentials and English communication skills, but also to his/her practical experience, such as working in a government agency or a central bank, or collaborating with or advising for country authorities in international organizations.

[Job details]
(1) Teaching obligation
1. To teach Master's students "Microeconomics for Public Policy" (4 credits), "Monetary Policy in Theory and Practice" (2 credits), "Financial Sector Reform and Development" (2 credits), as well as to be a coordinator for courses offered by outside organizations such as JICA, IMF, and the ADB Institute. Additionally, the successful candidate may be asked to teach courses held jointly with the Graduate School of Economics and/or the School of International and Public Policy.
2. To hold a "seminar" class once a week for a group of students (first-year and second-year Master students, about 8 in total) to prepare them for their thesis, and supervise their thesis projects individually.
3. To attend workshops that are held at APPP or elsewhere from time to time.
4. Other miscellaneous work, including traveling to Asian countries to interview applicants for APPP and serving as committee members in the IPP or the Graduate School of Economics.

Note: "Four credits class" means that each class meets twice a week for 13 weeks (105 minutes each) under an academic quarter. "Two credits class" means that each class meets once a week for 13 weeks (105 minutes each) under an academic quarter.

(2) Administrative functions
Shared responsibility for committee membership, entrance examinations, and other administrative functions may be assigned.
