Faculty of Information Science and Electrical Engineering, Kyushu University invites applications for an Associate Professor position, as described below.
Mathematical foundation of data science such as machine learning, statistics, data processing, information theory, algorithm, optimization, etc., and its application to industry and sciences.

･The successful candidate is expected to conduct research and supervision of students in DSF Lab.
･He/she will also teach some courses in the ISEE, in Informatics Course of the Department of Physics, and/or in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Sciences.
*If he/she requests, the teaching load shall be reduced until March 2022.
*For start-up research expenses, 1 million JPY for the first year and 0.5 million JPY for the second year shall be provided, respectively.
This is a full time, five-year tenure-track appointment. We will conduct a mid-way evaluation during the third year and a tenure evaluation on the final year. If the outcome of the final evaluation is positive, the candidate will be offered tenure until the mandatory retirement age of 65.
