Faculty of Library, Information and Media Science, of the University of Tsukuba invites applications
for the position of associate professor in informatics. The faculty seeks applicants who are capable of conducting research and teaching on  knowledge discovery from and management of bigdata on crowd activities, aiming at improving productivity, achieving trust, and creating motivations in lives, in the crowd-in-the-loop society. The applicants are expected to be motivated to develop a better framework of division of labor and new services based on them, exploiting knowledge behind sequence data such as crowd action logs and task results in the form of structured data and natural language data.  Expected knowledge and skills include data mining, data integration, data analysis, and data management. Applicants are also expected to be interested in both theory and implementation.

・Research work in the field of informatics.
・Teaching undergraduate courses in the College of Media Arts, Science and Technology, School of
Informatics; Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Systems I,  related seminar courses, and supervision of undergraduate students.
・Teaching graduate courses in the Graduate School of Library, and Information Media Studies;
Advanced Topics in Data Engineering,  related seminar courses, and supervision of graduate students. (The graduate courses are subject to change due to the organizational restructuring of graduate schools and programs at the University of Tsukuba, scheduled in AY 2020.)
・Administrative duties (e.g., committees, publicity, etc.)
・Applicants are required to teach classes in  both Japanese and English.
