[About the institution]
The Department of Integrated Sciences and Engineering for Sustainable Societies was launched in 2013. It is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all people by transforming knowledge of science and engineering into practice in a wide range of human life situations. Areas of study and research include environmental design and conservation of biodiversity, development of resource circulation systems to support sustainable lifestyles, visualization of cognitive and behavioral patterns of humans based on sensing tools and information technologies, and promotion of human safety and health through the development of integrated lifesaving systems and advanced biometric analyses.
The successful applicant will be involved in education and research in the field of cognitive-neuro sciences, human sciences and engineering, affective engineering and related fields. Applicants are expected to have a solid track record in at least one of the core research topics of the Department, i.e., neuroimaging, brain sciences, cognitive sciences, psychophysiology, psychometrics, psychological statistics, kansei engineering, artificial intelligence, health sciences, and so forth. A clear focus on statistical, quantitative, and/or evidence-based approaches is expected. We put emphasis on global education and international research collaboration, and the ability to play an active role in performing inter-disciplinary collaboration and education in an international context will be key criteria in the selection process. Accordingly, applicants with experience in international collaborative research projects are highly appreciated.
The successful applicant will be expected to actively participate in integrated experimental and field courses with an emphasis on project-based learning, and/or experimental cognitive and health sciences, and information science laboratory. However, it should be noted that the academic curriculum is subject to revision, and there may be changes to specific subjects. An active role in in the development of bilingual courses.

Salary will be determined according to the institutional labor regulations. Discretionary working system is adopted. Social insurance is available. Fixed-term appointment with the term being five years (renewal examinations are held at 1 and 3 years after the initial appointment).
