The Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT), International Christian University (ICU), Waseda University and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) (henceforth referred to as the "Member Institutions") were selected to receive subsidies for the training of scientific and technical personnel from MEXT (the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) in the context of Building of Consortia for the Development of Human Resources in Science and Technology. Accordingly, the Member Institutions have set up a Future Value Creators Training Consortium (henceforth the "Consortium"), and will be training next-generation researchers who are truly capable of driving innovation and creating value to ensure prosperous yet sustainable lifestyles. The Consortium will focus on the field of Biological Materials Science. The Consortium is currently seeking to hire two people out of the next generation of researchers to serve as PIs (Principal Investigators) at TUAT.
The researchers that are appointed will receive preferential treatment in the form of funding for starting up their research. They will also be allowed to focus on research, limiting to some extent the burden of lecture and university management work. After appointment, research performance will be assessed in every year. Taking your own wishes into account, we recommend engaging in research at other Member Institutions.

[Training Environment after Appointment]
After appointment, the researchers will be provided with a wide range of training opportunities as part of their training program. These will include research work carried out in cooperation with overseas institution for set periods of time (accounting for 60% or more of research efforts); "innovation training" carried out in cooperation with Japanese companies and foreign institutions with the purpose of acquiring the practical skills that are necessary for pursuing innovation; and efforts made toward the international standardization of codes of conduct for research and research ethics in order to adapt to the globalization of research. We will thus train a new generation of researchers that are capable of working across many different fields.

The researchers will be evaluated every year which will include: publishing papers on internationally recognized scientific publications; the acquisition of research funds; the research at multiple institutions; and the research at overseas institutions. The results of such evaluation will be shared within the Consortium, which will provide appropriate directives on the next stage of employment and on how to secure a tenure post. Taking own wishes into account, the Consortium will recommend engaging in research at other Member Institutions.
