7.Content of work
(1) To promote academic research related to Natural Hazard Science and/or Disaster Reduction in collaboration with other staff members of the institute.
(2) To give lectures related to Natural Hazard Science and/or Disaster Reduction in the Graduate School of Science and Technology.
(3) To pursue administrative duties and management at the institute and university.

8.Required qualifications
(1)Applicants must have a doctoral degree or Ph. D.
(2)Applicants must have substantial research achievements in the field of Natural Hazard Science and/or Disaster Reduction.
(3)Applicants must have ability and enthusiasm to promote research and education in collaboration with other faculty members of the institute.

9.Application documents
(1)A curriculum vitae with a photograph of the applicant's face and with his/her signature, including name, date of birth, gender, postal address, telephone number, e-mail address, details of doctoral degree, rewards/punishments, academic background, and professional career.
(2)A list of academic publications: (a) Books and book chapters, (b) doctoral (Ph.D.) thesis, (c) peer-reviewed journal papers, (d) peer-reviewed proceedings papers, (e) state-of-the-arts papers, (f) reports and papers in annals / bulletins. Author(s), title of the paper, journal or publication name, volume number, pages, and published year should be included in the list.
The journal accepted at Thomson ISI for coverage in Science Citation Index should be denoted by `*' before the authorship.
Reprints or copies of significant peer-reviewed journal papers (no more than 10 papers) should be attached to the list.
(3)A list of scientific research funds/grants awarded. Type of the fund and funding agency, research topic, specific role (e.g., principal researcher or co-investigator), and period of the funding, should be included in the list. A list of patents and utility models should be presented similarly.
(4)A list of awards received. Name of the award, title, name of the awardee, and date of the award should be included in the list.
(5)A list of teaching and supervision records in under- and post-graduate schools such as lectures, number of students supervised and their research topics.
(6)A list of activity records related to university-industry collaboration, university- public cooperation, and academic societies.
(7)Summary of the research achievements (within two pages of A4-size or US letter size sheet) and the future plan for research, education, university-industry collaboration and university-public cooperation (within two pages of A4-size or US letter size sheet).
(8)Two reference persons to whom we may ask about applicant. A list of his/her name, affiliation, telephone number and e-mail address should be given.

Notes:
i)All the submitted documents should be prepared in English or Japanese language.
ii)All the submitted materials including reprints of papers will not be returned.
iii) Information on submitted applications will be strictly confidential. Personal information will be protected appropriately in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Law and Rules of Niigata University.

17:00 (Japan Standard Time = GMT+9) of January 6, 2020
(All of the documents must be submitted through email as PDF format)

11.Selection process
Initial screening and shortlisting of candidates will be carried out through theevaluation of the application documents. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. The candidates are expected to make a presentation on their research achievements, future plan of their research, education, and others.
Please note that travel expenses for the interview will not be provided by Niigata University.
