Kyushu University is seeking an experienced individual with expertise in teaching and research for appointment as a tenured Professor in the Laboratory of Forest Conservation, Division of Forest Environmental Sciences, Department of Agro-environmental Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture.
This Division deals with education and research on conservation and sustainable use of forest resources towards achieving recycling-based society. The duties and responsibilities of this position are conducting comprehensive education and research based on forest civil engineering, erosion control engineering, and topographic and geological methods, in the following scientific fields:
1. Sediment and driftwood runoff from mountain forest slopes and mountain torrents,
2. Field survey, laboratory experiment and numerical analysis on prevention of sediment related disasters in mountainous catchments,
3. Erosion control and Sabo planning, forest disaster prevention facilities and forest civil engineering facilities with which we can promote both development of forestry and forest conservation.

The appointee will join the teaching staff of the Course of Forest and Forest Products in the School of Agriculture and the Department of Agro-environmental Sciences in the Graduate School of Bioresource and Bioenvironmental Sciences.

3. Date of Appointment:
The successful candidate will take up the post as soon as possible after April 1, 2020.

4. Qualifications:
(1) Ph.D. degree.
(2) An outstanding research record in the above-mentioned fields 1-3.
(3) Able to work with enthusiasm for student education and research guidance as undergraduate and graduate school teachers.

5. Educational duties:
The successful candidate will be expected to teach the following subjects and supervise research activities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in Japanese, with some of the teaching and supervision done in English. Most of the courses are given by multiple professors.

Professor

Salary and Benefits: Appointment level to be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary and benefits are specified in the Kyushu University regulations.

The outline is as follows:
Monthly salary. Bonus twice a year. Discretionary labor system is applied. Holidays are Saturday, Sunday, national holidays, and days set by Kyushu University. Retirement age is 65 years old. Join MEXT Mutual Aid Association.
