Outline

A number of PhD studentships are available in the field of sustainable and green chemistry based on new catalytic approaches to chemical synthesis and environmental science.

The studentships are available in the Cardiff Catalysis Institute (CCI) under the supervision of Professor Graham Hutchings FRS and Professor Stuart Taylor. A number of exciting opportunities are available many with links to industrial sponsors.

The CCI is one of our prestigious University Research Institutes. It is recognised internationally as a leading research centre for heterogeneous catalysis and has forged a strong reputation for its innovative and transformative work. The CCI has around 80 researchers and it is equipped with a wide variety of state-of-the-art facilities.

We are also leading the way in how gold is used in heterogeneous catalysis, and investigating how the synergy between gold and other precious and transition metals can be controlled. Our newly identified catalyst has the potential to save lives, improve health and clean up the environment.
