LABORATORYThermal Remote Sensing Group
The Thermal Remote Sensing Group (GTT) has done basic and applied research in remote sensing during the last 35 years, developing methodologies, algorithms and products. However, one important research line in which we are involved is in fact multidisciplinary, since it consists in using remote sensing data and reconstructed series of observational data to analyze climate change trends, weather risks and inputs to the hydrological system. This line is developed together with the CLIMAMET group (Geography Department, Faculty of Geography) leaded by Dr. Maria J. Estrela. The purposes are evaluating and monitoring spatial and temporal trends associated to the climate change, their impact on ecosystems and natural resources, and the surveillance of extreme weather risks. You are invited to visit the following webpages: http://gtt.uv.es and https://www.uv.es/gtt/CLIMTEX/.
Brief description of the project:
This research is focused in three main lines: (1) development and validation of satellite-retrieval algorithms and disaggregation techniques to generate key variable maps at different spatial resolutions, (2) reconstruction of observational data series and spatial interpolation of variables at high resolution for analyzing climate change trends, and (3) forecast of maximum-minimum temperatures and precipitation and short-term and medium-term trends. These lines require expertise in remote sensing, image processing, deep learning methods, statistical analysis, and climate change trend and meteorological event analysis. The requested researcher’s profile should own PhD in physics, geography, or similar, and the candidate should have a solid background on Earth Sciences.
