The fellowship application deadline is 10th January 2020 and Fellowships will start between June and September 2020.
We are looking for a researcher to develop with us a project to study comorbidities associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), mainly cognitive impairment and vascular dysfunction in elderly patients. We are interested in the study of the relationship between senescence, phosphate intake in the diet and CKD progression. In addition, animal models of CKD and cognitive impairment will be explored.
- PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Medicine or Veterinary.
- Specialized knowledge in one or more of the following domains:
- Mineral Metabolism
- Cognitive Impairment
- At least 2 papers as first or corresponding author in 1st decile journals

The research of our group is focused on different aspects of calcium metabolism and vascular calcification. Our primary area of research is the study of the pathogenetic mechanisms of secondary hyperparathyroidism associated with renal failure. We study the parathyroid function, both at cellular and molecular level (PTH synthesis and secretion and cell proliferation) of normal and hyperplastic parathyroid glands. More recently we have also embarked on research of in vivo and in vitro mechanisms of vascular calcification. In addition, we are interested in studying biomarkers of renal disease progression as well as the bone alterations promoted during chronic kidney disease.

All Expressions of Interest will be evaluated and candidates informed. We will start preparing the fellowship application as soon as a suitable candidate has been found.
